For the past few months, Levy Restaurants at the Georgia World Congress Center, has been working with the Atlanta Union Mission as part of their on-going Levy Cares Program Culinary Classes. Chef Frank Abbinanti and his team have been teaching culinary terms, kitchen safety and sanitation, knife skills and food preparation to the Mission’s kitchen staff made up of the men that are enrolled in the Mission’s long-term program.
This past weekend, the men who are in the culinary program were invited to take a tour of the Georgia Dome. Chef Frank Abbinanti led the tour along with Karyn Kotler, Senior Sales Manager, Jenny Turknet, Food Blogger with the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, and Jennifer Scholle with Atlanta Mission’s PR & Marketing Department. They took a tour of the facility’s kitchen, walked to 2View and Owners Club Restaurants and concluded the visit by attending the Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints game in a suite donated by the GWCC Authority.
The suite was a last minute surprise to the guys from the Mission, many of whom have never attended a game in person. Jose Marquez, Kitchen Manager with the Mission said, “On behalf of the Atlanta Mission and the clients, we would like to thank you for the most generous hospitality that was extended to us by Chef Frank and Karyn Kotler at Sunday’s Falcon/Saints game. The time and effort that Chef Frank and Karyn took was deeply appreciated by me and the clients that were there with me at Sunday’s game.”
The Levy team at the Georgia World Congress Center is committed to this project and look forward to continuing to serve the Atlanta Mission.
