The Community Action Resource Empowerment (CARE) Team at the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCC, Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park) had a productive year which included several large donations. In addition to helping several charitable organizations earlier in the year, during October and November the CARE Team visited two nearby elementary schools and a local mission.
Our employees donated enough school supplies for deliveries to be made to two local elementary schools, Bethune and F. L. Stanton. Each school received 192 lbs of school and art supplies, which will be utilized over the course of the coming year. The Atlanta Mission received 8,550 lbs of supplies in November. Atlanta Mission was established in 1938 and provides emergency shelter, residential discipleship, job attainment and transitional housing to more than 950 homeless men, women and children daily.
The CARE Team is currently working on its 2012 plan for continued community outreach.
