Venus Today, one of the nation’s leading magazines for the stadium industry, recently released the third edition of its social media rankings of all stadiums and venues throughout the country and the Georgia Dome placed fourth in the 30,001 or more capacity category.
Just to make Venues Today’s Social Media Power 100 is quite a feat, with well over 500 stadiums and arenas up for consideration. October makes the third consecutive poll the Georgia Dome has been in the magazines’ top 100, reaching as high as No. 16 in the first poll last February.
So how did the Georgia Dome get ranked? The poll looks at a few factors including Twitter, Facebook and FourSquare and came up with a formula based on the number of followers, likes and check-ins on each. Currently the Georgia Dome has about 7,300 followers on Twitter and just over 18,000 friends on Facebook. Factor that in with about 300,000 check-ins on FourSquare and Facebook and you are looking at one of the top 100 venues in the social media world.
